A Few of my Favorite Things...
Hellooo friends!
I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and a great start to your week! Yesterday, I had the most fabulous Sunday watching rom-com after rom-com. Started with A Star is Born, then watched Guess Who (amazing movie, Zoe Saldana is goals), followed by How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and finished with Bridesmaids! THEN….. I discovered Love is Blind on Netflix. I saw sooo many posts about it, I needed to see what the hype was about. Holy. Moly. This show is absolutely addicting. I binged the first 4 episodes and i’m not even ashamed a little bit. Sometimes you just need to have the most boring day possible, know what I mean??
The weather in KC has started to warm up a bit which makes me soooo happy. We have been getting sooo much snow, so it’s nice to have a little break it. When it snowed the first few times, it was like “awww, pretty snow!” aaaaand it’s pretty inconvenient now haha. It is not fun to drive to work in and it’s so freaking cold! I’m the most clumsy person on the planet, so Bliss + ice is really not a good combo. I also just feel like I look like a complete marshmallow and not in a cute way.
Justin and I moved into our new home this last weekend! It is so cute and so perfect for the 2 of us and our kitties. It’s an adorable townhouse with 2 bedrooms. In California, we were just living a small 1 bedroom apartment, so it’s so nice to have so much extra space. We live right by an area called the Country Club Plaza, which has so many amazing shops and restaurants, so i love being able to walk there.
There are a few pieces of furniture we are waiting on, but it is coming together! I just love decorating a new space. It truly makes me so happy. I love starting fresh and turning it into our home. I’ll definitely do a full tour soon!
LITTLE LIFE UPDATE (not actually little, v big update actually), my dad moved back to Kansas City!!!! He embarked on the same 22 hour drive we did and moved here a couple weeks ago! It has been so amazing to be close to my family. He moves into his new house in a few weeks and i’m just so excited that he is here again.
I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I wanted to share some of my current favorite things! I have tried out a lot of new makeup recently that have definitely turned into staple items in my makeup bag. I have also tried out some new recipes I wanted to share!
Queue My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music… ok sorry bad joke.
Up first…
Tarte - Tartelette in Bloom eye shadow palette!
I have been using this palette every single day. I looooove nude shades and this is the most perfect collection of nude colors. I wish I was bold enough to wear fun colors, but for now i’ll stick with this amazing palette! You can clearly tell it has been used in the photo, so I also included one from when I first got it.
Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara
Hooooooooolllllyyyyyyy CRAP y’all. This product is so good that it made me say y’all. I don’t think i’ve ever said y’all in my life, that’s how good you know it is lol. I am the type of person that uses 3 different mascaras on top of each other to get the maximum amount of volume. The first time I used this mascara, I was shook because I only needed one coat of this stuff. Not only is the packaging cute AF, it’s an amazing product and I can’t recommend it enough. I pretty much bullied my sister into buying it because it’s just so good.
Becca - Champagne Pop Highlighter
Becca highlighter is just gold. It’s so good and so easy to apply. Everyone knows I love a good shimmer, so this color is perfect for me and has the right shade of shimmer. I always like to start by getting a mini version to test out the color. I will definitely be buying this shade in a full size!
Sempre Beve Candle
These are the beeeest candles ever. They smell so so so good. The best part of it?? Once the candle is out, you scrape out the wax, wash it and it turns into a wine glass! There are so many amazing scents, my favorite is the Limoncello. These candles smell like home to me. The second I light it, it just makes me feel home. Buy them here!
Anthropologie Necklace
I just love simple, delicate necklaces that I can wear every day. I saw this one at Anthropologie and it just spoke to me. It has “i love you to the moon and back” on it and it is just so sweet. One of the first presents Justin ever got me was a half moon necklace that said the same thing on it. I have worn it almost every single day since the day he gave it to me. It was getting a little dirty, so I thought this was the perfect replacement so I can keep my other necklace in good condition.
Keto Brownie Mix
Another little life update, I recently went Keto! I have absolutely loved it so far. Since being on Keto, I have realized how much my body was relying on carbs and it’s truly eye opening. Once you get past the first or second week, it becomes a lot easier. There are so many keto friendly recipes out there. The one thing that is really hard on keto…… sweets. I have the biggest sweet tooth. I joined a keto Facebook group and someone posted about this Keto&Co brownie mix! It was on Amazon, so I decided to give it a try. I made the first batch and they came out of the oven warm and gooey. HOLY MOLY. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS STUFF ENOUGH. I cannot believe it is keto. They taste like Betty Crocker brownie mix. When they aren’t warm, they taste like Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies. Amazing. I may or may not have had my second batch delivered today….
Rosemary Salt!
One day, on my 5th consecutive hour of scrolling through TikTok, I came across this video of this guy cooking a “perfect steak.” He mentioned that he used this “Rosemary Salt.” I had never heard of that, so I clicked on his page and saw a video of him making the salt. He started making videos using the salt on everything and it all looked sooooo good. I knew I needed to make it. The ingredients consist of rosemary sprigs, sage, salt and a little lemon zest! All you have to do is blend it all together in a food processor or a blender. I went to the store, gathered my ingredients and blended everything together. Holy WOW. This stuff is amazing. It can go on any vegetable and any type of meat. It’s soooo good and a must try!
Our place is not quiiiiiite done yet, but I wanted to show some areas I have finished! Our dining room has these really beautiful built in shelves, so I have loved having that extra area to store glasses, platters, charcuterie boards, etc. For the last year or 2 years, I have been obseeeeeessed with wicker and rattan. I really wanted to get some beautiful wicker/rattan decor for our new place. I found this collection of sea grass wrapped glasses, pitcher and serving bowl and I had to have it all. I just love everything Anthropologie does. I always find exactly what i’m looking for.
